My mother is very happy at Ashley Court. The staff are very considerate and kind. She enjoys the entertainment that they work hard to provide. All medical needs are taken care of quickly and effectively.

Daughter of Resident

Lots of activities throughout the month and lots of opportunities for the residents to participate. Care is at the front of everything that is done. Medical issues were taken care of promptly.

Jacqui Marks

Registered Manager

View Bio
I began my journey at Ashley Court in 2014 as Deputy Manager, and in 2016, I was honoured to become the Registered Manager. But my path in care started much earlier—when I was just 17 years old. From the very beginning, I knew that caring for others wasn’t just a job for me; it was a calling. Over the years, I’ve grown both personally and professionally. I’ve gained my NVQ Level 2, 3, and 5 in Health and Social Care, but more importantly, I’ve gained years of experience, countless memories, and a deep understanding of what it truly means to be there for someone—especially when they need it most. Being a manager is not without its challenges, but it’s also one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I’m so proud to lead a team of kind, dedicated individuals who give their all every day. And what means the most to me is that, despite my responsibilities, I still get to be close to our residents—listening to their stories, sharing in their laughter, offering comfort in difficult times. There’s something truly special about being able to make someone feel safe, heard, and cared for. That’s what fills my heart and keeps me going. I feel incredibly lucky to do what I love, surrounded by people who inspire me every single day.

Activity Coordinator

I was inspired to become an activity coordinator while working as a chef in another care home. I never expected to be given this opportunity, as being a chef was all I knew. A friend recommended me to the manager, and I've never looked back since. I started at Ashley Court in November 2018 and began my NAPA activity training in February 2019. This job is incredibly rewarding on an emotional level. I have the privilege of providing activities and entertainment that residents might be missing out on. It’s amazing to see them happy, smiling, laughing, and having fun. I also find it fulfilling to help new residents settle into their new home, offering support as they cope with fear and anxiety while making new friends. Now that I have been in this role for so long, I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Katalin Varine Csizik

Head of Care

View Bio
I began my journey at Ashley Court in 2014 as a care assistant. With my previous experience, I quickly embraced the role of senior care assistant, working closely with residents to ensure they received the compassionate, personalized care they deserved. To further develop my skills, I earned my NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care In 2018, I was promoted to deputy manager, a role that allowed me to combine hands-on care with broader leadership responsibilities. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of balancing administrative tasks with the genuine, everyday interactions that define our residents. It was a period of significant growth, both for myself and for the team I was proud to support. Recently, I made the decision to step down from my deputy manager position to become the Head of Care. This change wasn’t about stepping away from leadership; rather, it was about reconnecting with what truly brings me joy—being directly involved in care. I wanted more time to focus on helping our residents enjoy a high quality of life, with compassion and respect as the cornerstones of every interaction. I am incredibly proud to be part of Ashley Court, where each day offers the opportunity to touch lives, share smiles, and build a nurturing environment for our residents. It is an honour to work in a place that feels like home for so many, and I am excited to continue making a positive impact with every step I take.

Head Chef

I was born and raised in Sri Lanka, where I worked as a professional actress & voice artist. Performing was my passion and identity. But when I moved to the UK, everything changed. Looking for part-time work, I applied for a Kitchen Assistant role at Ashley Court in 2021. One day, when the chef called in sick, I was asked to step in. Watching the residents enjoy the meal I’d prepared sparked something in me — the same joy I once felt on stage. I realised food, like art, can touch hearts. That day, I found a new stage — the kitchen. I spoke with my manager, Jacqui, and asked if she would consider me for the role of Second Chef. With her support, I stepped into the role just six months after joining, and I threw myself into learning. I earned my Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering, as well as my Level 2 HACCP for Catering qualification. In 2022, I became the Chef at Ashley Court and Head Chef in 2024. Cooking is my passion, and I put love, care, and intention into every meal I prepare to bring comfort to our residents. Watching them enjoy the food I create gives me a sense of peace and purpose that words cannot fully express. Ashley Court isn’t just where I work — it’s where I found myself again. This is more than a job to me. It’s where my heart belongs, and I would happily do it for the rest of my life.
