We are delighted to announce that Moorlands Care Home in Nottingham has achieved a ‘Good’ rating from the CQC in all 5 areas! The home was rated good in the key areas being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. 

 

This outstanding achievement is due to the hard work and dedication of the team at Moorlands to continually providing the best care and putting the needs of the residents first and foremost. 

 

Person-centred care is key at Moorlands, with staff creating personalised care plans as guidance on a resident’s likes and dislikes.  One of our staff members say “I learn about a resident’s needs and preferences by reviewing their care plan, speaking with them and their relatives, and gaining insights from colleagues. I also build understanding through daily interactions, listening, and observing their routines.”   

 

The staff at Moorlands also understand the importance of building relationships with not only residents, but their families to build a strong support network aiding in their care. One staff member says “I focus on building a strong and trusting relationship with them to encourage open communication. If the resident is unable to communicate due to a condition such as dementia, I speak with their next of kin to understand their preferences and needs.” 

 

As part of nurturing our resident’s individuality and maintaining their independence, Moorlands empowers residents to make decisions about their home, collaborating with them to redecorate the home to create a more personalised, intimate environment. 

 

Key to the exceptional care provided at Moorlands are the staff, who are always eager to listen to concerns and learn from each other to embed good practice in the home. This is because of the positive, open-door culture that is cultivated in the home, to ensure staff feel empowered to provide the best care possible. 

 

As a testament to the home’s commitment to providing dignified care, Moorlands looks ahead with plans to implement a dignity champion, further advocating for the needs of the residents and ensuring their voices are heard. We look forward to the continued progress at Moorlands!
