Daughter of Resident

My brother and myself are very happy with the facilities of Alpine Care Home. Our mum has been in the home for over 14 months now and she is safe, contented and happy. The staff at the care home are very caring. There is always something going on at the home with some kind of activity. I would highly recommend this home to anyone that wants that home comfort feel.

I have been in Health and Social Care since 1986, 39 years now. I started my journey working in a hospital environment for people who had physical and severe mental health disabilities. I then moved into a small home in the community still working with adults who had these difficulties. I stayed in this field until 2000 that's when I found my passion for working with people living with Alzheimer's and other Dementia's. I have worked managing very successful care homes since. I have furthered my knowledge and skills by completing my Registered Managers Award, NVQ level 4, and my Diploma 5 in Health and Social Care. My passion is making a difference in the lives of people we care for and their families.

With over 20 years of experience across care, education, and the activity provision sector, and as a multi-award-winning professional, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with people living with their own unique needs and challenges, which has opened up a whole new world for me, one that is deeply interesting, endlessly inspiring, and incredibly rewarding. This role continues to teach me so much, and I feel truly honoured to support and connect with individuals at such a meaningful stage of life.

I have a deep passion for creating nutritious, delicious meals, and I bring a wealth of experience and a personal touch to every dish I prepare. I do my best to ensure that every meal is not only healthy but also enjoyable and tailored to the individual preferences and dietary needs of our residents. I believe that food is not just fuel; it’s an experience that should nourish both the body and the soul. In my role, I take great pride in preparing meals that bring comfort, joy, and a sense of home to our residents. Its important to listen and learn about residents' favourite foods and their preferences, offering a choice. Every dish is made with care, whether it's a favourite comfort food or something new to excite their taste buds. I am told by our team that sometimes the meals I spark conversations and fond memories of cooking or eating with their families. It’s actually heart-warming to hear how through cooking meals that the residents enjoy, I can contribute to making a difference and help with well being and memory.
