Person-Centred Care in the Cultural Heart of Sheffield

St Catherine’s Nursing Home, located in a quiet residential area of Sheffield, offers a peaceful and welcoming environment with two separate buildings designed to provide high-quality nursing and dementia care. St Catherine’s main building features 36 en-suite rooms, two lounges – a large, lively space for socializing, games, and activities, and a quiet lounge for relaxation. The Hallam building offers 30 rooms, a smaller lounge with a TV, and a larger lounge for communal activities and movie nights.  The home is surrounded by large, tranquil gardens with abundant wildlife, including birds and squirrels that residents love to feed.

Situated in one of Sheffield’s most culturally diverse quarters, the home benefits from excellent transport links, with a main bus route to the city centre, a nearby GP surgery and pharmacy, and proximity to the Northern General Hospital. With 24-hour registered nursing care, St Catherine’s provides compassionate, person-centred support in a homely and resident-led setting, where regular activities and outings enhance daily life.

St Catherine’s is Mum’s second nursing home, and up to press, it’s the best. Mum is well looked after, with loving care. This nursing home is so good I don’t have any guilt now when I leave Mum to come home. Her surroundings are always clean, and the food is acceptable. The staff are brilliant, and one member, what a star she is – every care home should have one of her!

Daughter of Resident

I can’t fault the staff for their caring nature and the genuine way that they care for the residents. All the staff care for the residents in a caring and professional way. I know that my mother is being well cared for, and this gives me peace of mind.

Life at St Catherine’s Nursing Home

St. Catherine’s activity coordinator leads regular quizzes, exercise and arts and crafts sessions, ensuring plenty of fun and creativity. Residents enjoy the flexibility to choose activities that suit them each day. Themed menus and events also bring excitement to mealtimes, while visits from local pastors on Sundays and performances from a local choir provide meaningful community connections.

I began my career as a nurse in 1989 and have 36 years’ experience as a registered nurse. After qualifying and registering with the then UKCC, I joined the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps and saw service across the UK and abroad. I left after 7 years but continued to work as a United Kingdom Based Civilian in Army medical centres in Germany and Cyprus as a practice nurse. On my return to the United Kingdom, I worked as a registered nurse in a care home in Northern Ireland for 2 years. On return to England, I was fortunate to take up a position with the Nursing and Midwifery Council in 2005 as a professional Advisor. A position I held for 7 years. It was in 2012 when I started my career in care homes and have not looked back since. I have held posts as a Registered Manager in care homes in London, Hampshire, Leeds and now Sheffield. I joined Regal Care in August 2025, and I can honestly say I feel I have come home and have been made to feel very welcome.
