Katherine Jordan from The Hollies wins Nutrition Award at Kent Care Awards 2019!

A BIG congratulations to all of our Kent homes, who we celebrated at the 4th Kent Care Awards on Friday, 20th September.

Our teams from across the region attended the glittering gala evening in Maidstone. The evening was a real occasion to celebrate not only our homes and teams in Kent but also excellence in the social care industry.

We were really honoured to have a total of 4 finalists from our homes across Kent.

On the night, our Head Cook from our Residential Home, The Hollies, Katherine ‘Katy’ Jordan, was announced as the overall winner of the Nutrition Award.

Katy has been at Hollies for 14 years and does more than just ensuring that the residents at The Hollies enjoy freshly prepared Nutritional and tasty menus. She ensures that they are varied, resident-led and inclusive of different cultures and religions.  The residents love her and her food!

When the home has themed events Katy always ensures that the catering department joins in. Creating themed menus for Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Burns Nights and so much more.

Every Birthday is always celebrated with a beautiful homemade cake.

Katy is dedicated to her role within the home and making a difference to the residents who live within the service. Katy now goes on to the South East Regional Finals of the Great British Care Awards.

Our other finalists at the Kent Care Awards were;

Kelly Paddock also from Hollies who was a finalist in the New Comer Award. Kelly always shows an eagerness to learn and develop her skills and knowledge in social care. She has shown that in a short time she is dedicated and passionate about the care she provides to the residents who live at The Hollies and possess a caring and selfless heart!

Helen Couldridge the Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator from Alpine Residential Community in Sevenoaks who was nominated in the Putting People First Personalisation Award. Helen has been a driving force in the implementation of person centred and meaningful social and leisure services at Alpines. Year in, year out she is always finding creative and innovative ways to continue to improve the Leisure Services.

Steve Creswick from Alpine was nominated in the Nutrition Award. Steve is an amazing chef having been in the food industry over 30 years. He ensures he knows our residents and their food likes and dislikes. Steve makes sure our residents get their favourite food and snacks, as well as ensuring the meals are healthy and well balanced. Steve always comes out of the kitchen after lunch to speak to residents and find out if they enjoyed the food
