Christmas at Westlands

Posted on 11th December 2019

December is a really busy and special time of year in our homes.

Here our manager from our home Westlands in Wellingborough talks about how they get ready for December and the Christmas period.

'Preparing for Christmas here at Westlands we place posters around the home and on Facebook regarding events upcoming.

We love to decorate the home and the trees with the residents and play Christmas songs to get us in the festive mood. If we are not watching Christmas movies, listening to music, making cards or decorations we are enjoying mince pies and mulled wine.

Staff love to join the residents for the annual obligatory xmas jumper day and love to dance around to visiting singers. We enjoy visits from local schools to sing carols and make our lovelies smile, traditionally the Salvation Army visit to play their wonderful music and sing songs.

This year we will be placing a video on fb of our staff doing a little dance to The 12 Days of Christmas which we will be carrying out next week.

We ask all family if they wish to attend Christmas Day dinner or prefer to take their loved one home for the day. Our Christmas day menu is placed on posters around the home to ensure that all can choose from the options or request something else. On Christmas day one of our Seniors Son comes to the home to hand out selection packs and talk with the residents.

We love to involve all family from residents to staff and make a real homely Christmas.

This is just a small glimpse of all the things we do over the December month and Christmas period here at Westlands'
