Christmas at Linden Manor

Posted on 16th December 2019

Here is the next edition in our Christmas Blog Series, today's is from our Award Winning manager of our Residential Home Linden Manor in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

"Here at Linden Manor, we are passionate about the festive season.

We like to start decorations on the 1 st of December to prep and get excitement in the air.

We have our three Christmas trees, which we get every resident to put a decoration on one of the tree– This brings back many memories from their childhood and parenthood.

Amy and the residents get together with snacks and decorate both lounges and the foyer!

This year, we had special help from relative Elaine, who devotes her time to Linden Manor on a regular basis to help with activities.

Every year, we have a visit from the naughty elf where he hides within the home for residents and relatives to find.

He hides anywhere and everywhere, the residents love participating in hiding Mr. Elf for others to find – Sometimes they’re so good at hiding him that we can’t find him for days!

Closer to Christmas time, we do mini events like cheese and wine tasting, which is very popular – Until everyone tries the spicy cheese!

This year, everyone’s favourite was the chive and herb soft cheese with a glass of rose’.

We also hold a weekly Christmas card session, which is hosted by our activities coordinator Amy and relative Elaine.

This is so residents are able to send their loved one a personalised, homemade card for Christmas.

Also, lets not forget our annual Christmas party!

We have Christmas dinner, where we invite relatives to come along for a traditional turkey dinner with their loved ones.

We have a party with music, wine and games – We love it when everyone comes in Christmas jumpers.

We have entertainment perform, this year we have ZING!

We then serve a buffet in the evening with some carolling.

Merry Christmas everyone, from Linden Manor!"
