Alpine at Christmas

Posted on 24th December 2019

Our last edition from our Christmas Blog series is from our Residential Home Alpine in Sevenoaks. This blog is from our award winning Leisure & Lifestyle Coordinator Helen Couldridge who recently won the South East great British Care Award for Activity Provider.

“At Alpine we started the preparations early by holding a residents meeting and asking how they like to celebrate their Christmas.

We had great fun reminiscing about stockings with coal and oranges in and how toys have changed over the years. It seems children still love the old fashioned toys such as yoyo’s and kites.

The decorations went up at the start of December and everyone got involved by untangling baubles, dressing the trees or just supervising. (with many different idea’s on what makes a pretty tree!)

We sent out a December day by day calendar to all families giving a detailed itinerary of all the fun activities we have planned and asking family to come in and join us when ever they wish, either by enjoying the entertainment, helping with baking or arts and crafts.

The families have been amazing at supporting our residents with Christmas jumper / Hat / socks days. The Staff have a Christmas Choir that everyone can join in with (Apart from the X Factor, no prizes there haha)

This is the resident’s home and we want to encourage family traditions and make the best memories and maybe a little reminiscence of happy times past and present.

At Alpine every day is Christmas Day.”
